Half term Halloween in Derbyshire 2022

Half term holidays in Derbyshire should start 22 October until 30 October, however there are schools having longer holidays up to 6 November. Double check the opening times of the venues, as some activities run just during the weekends, some on a specific day and some all the way during the holiday period.

Matlock Farm Park

Halloween at Matlock Farm Park

Matlock farm park is popular place to visit during the whole year round. The farm hosts loads of activities during holidays and of course the most popular Halloween cannot be missed. There are plenty of craft workshops for children (Witch craft workshop), they can pick up own pumpkins, or a spooky trail to follow in the enchanted forrest. Usually activities including animal handling, ferret racing, meerkat talks, etc. are still on, and both indoor and outdoor play areas will be opened.

Halloween at Thornbridge Hall

Enjoy spooky activities during 24 – 30 October 2022 at popular Thornbridge Hall. You can listen to the ghost stories, enter fancy dress competition, or join into a Halloween Hunt. There is no special fee for that, the standard entry fee applies. Book in advance and receive 20% discount.

Half term activities at Bolsover Castle

Bolsover Castle is part of the English Heritage so why not to visit during half term and let children to enjoy their visit with a bonus. It will be a well worthy family visit as little ones can try to solve mystery clues or listening to the creepy stories. All the special activities are included in the price ticket.

Halloween fun at Carsington Water

Carsington Water is popular spot for families, therefore during the half term holidays you can sign children up for Bushcraft activities, Severn Trent Halloween trail, or join wellbeing group for a dusk walk when at the end you will be sitting around the fire with your favourite hot drink. Bushcraft is popular amongst children and this time there is a Halloween twist. You will need to book in advance for this.

Shine a Light at Cromford Mills

Shine a light at Cromford Mills

Shine a Light experience is suitable for the whole family. It takes place at different part of Derbyshire but I think the one at Cromford Mills is worthy a visit. It contains animations & live musical performances within climate change topic. I recommend to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Heights of Abraham

When visiting Derbyshire, Matlock Bath is demanding area for tourists. And to be honest me and my children love Heights of Abraham located in the centre of Matlock Bath. The natural caverns are great to visit during spooky Halloween time. There will be more to that this time such as scarecrow and pumpkin decorations, Halloween treats, Halloween Grotto or hunt for the “sleeping spirit”! Activities cost £4.50 on top of regular admission costs if you wanna take a lift up the hill!
